Aberdeen’s population of nearly 25,000 residents is enjoying a growing economy – nearly 2,000 new jobs are expected over the next five years from new and relocating businesses in various industries. Business‐friendly incentives, such as no corporate income or business inventory taxes, are playing a key role in this economic growth.

According to the “Official Guide to Aberdeen,” the city’s economy “has diversified, and the number of businesses has grown to more than 1,400” and has grown into a “recognized center of regional and federal government offices, education, healthcare, financial services, retailers, wholesalers and manufacturing.” Agriculture also “continues to be a driving economic force in the region,” as “ethanol production and wheat exports have stimulated the agricultural economy.”

In terms of technology, Aberdeen has been and continues to be a regional leader in computer and telecommunications technologies. Regional businesses compete in a global economy, thanks to high‐speed data networks, video‐conferencing and broadband access, even in rural areas.
