Boulder, Colorado – located less than 30 minutes from downtown Denver – is home to the state’s largest university and is largely impacted by the student population, in terms of its economy and culture. Boulder is also home to the only accredited Buddhist‐inspired university in the United States.

Known for outdoor recreation, natural beauty, and a reputation as being an environmental leader dedicated to preserving natural open space, maintaining a clean and beautiful environment, and reducing pollution, the Boulder community is also characterized by a high‐tech workforce, research and innovation, and early adoption of technology. Boulder has a highly educated population, with world‐class university and government research facilities, a heavy concentration of high tech industries, and “visionary entrepreneurs.”

The City of Boulder has worked collaboratively with the University of Colorado‐Boulder, government agencies, and other local governments in Colorado in advancing broadband technology in the city. Other local companies are also expanding their communications technology in Boulder, likely as a result of the residents’ reception to technology. A recent newspaper article described Boulder as being more “cyber‐savvy” than other cities the nation.
